The Shaw laminate we had laid in our kitchen is garbage. It dents easily and is now buckling in random places. Absolutely no water damage. Factory rep came to investigate and said it was water damage and they would not honor the warranty. We argued that it couldn't be water damage because the boards around the sink and dishwasher are fine. The buckling is in random areas. Then the rep said we used too much spray cleaner. She asked what we used. I said it was Shaw Cleaner and we followed the instructions to the T. Also, in the year and a half we have not used the cleaner more than a dozen times. This was installed just a year and a half ago. Shaw rep left and then announced to the dealer that we over sprayed when we cleaned and Shaw would not honor warranty. She was too cowardly to even tell us personally.

Hi, Jim.
Sorry for that. I thought they would be a good addition to the link and it will be superfluously to email you about that. Next time I will contact you first.
Thanks for commenting.

I am the Jim, a flooring professional, you mentioned in Review #5 above. I wish you had contacted me for permission to use my pictures. I would have said yes, but it's nice to be asked first. But I do want to comment on this topic. My Konecto flooring has been down a couple years now and I do like the look of it. Although scratches came easy the first month or so, the material seemed to toughen over time and scratches don't show as readily as they did early on.

This product had some early problems in its adhesive strips - early as far as manufacture is concerned. There were a lot of complaints that were reported on my forum where you linked to when you mentioned my project. The adhesive did not hold very well and cause a lot of raised edges. Of course, as these got dirty, they became difficult to repair, either by heating with a blow dryer and rolling, or by adding some drops of super glue.

I believe I got some of that early product run. The edges in my room did lift and I find new lifted edges every time I move a piece of furniture or under a rug. People should know that the early runs of Konecto may still be sitting in retail inventory. Later product does not have this problem and it is quite a good choice in flooring. I wish I knew what manufacturing dates to be concerned about, but I don't. You may want to ask other pros who participate on my flooring forum at www.thefloorpro.com, where my "review" was posted.

Always be sure you ask what grade of oak you are getting. Flooring comes in different grades, and you want the highest grade for the best quality! You are right, however, I do think French oak looks very classic and grandiose, especially in cottages. Thanks for sharing!
